Posted by List Engineering | March 01, 2010 | 0 Comments

Sustainable School ArchitectureMarch 2010 — Ron Blue, List Engineering’s owner and head engineer, authors a chapter entitled “Heating, Ventilating, Cooling and Plumbing” in Lisa Gelfand, FAIA’s new book Sustainable School Architecture: Design for Elementary and Secondary Schools.

Published by Wiley Publishers, the 352 page book presents sustainable design concepts as they relate to educational facilities and to those interested in designing schools. The chapter Ron authored considers a number of items the mechanical engineer will evaluate in completing his/her portion of a project, including occupant comfort, systems, natural ventilation, high performance strategies, controls, fire protection and plumbing.

List Engineering started working with Gelfand Partners Architects in mid-2008. In mid-2009, Lisa Gelfand asked Ron to assist with the text book she had undertaken

“The inclusion of mechanical system considerations in the architect’s design process demonstrates Ms. Gelfand’s innate understanding of her topic,” said Ron Blue.

“Sustainable School Architecture: Design for Elementary and Secondary Schools” is available on Amazon.com.
